Faculty Interview: Jinhee Choi this Thursday, February 17
February 14, 2005 09:02 PMJinhee Choi, a candidate for a full-time faculty position in the department, will give a presentation entitled: "A Cinema of Contradiction? Korean Blockbusters and the 386 Generation Directors." on Thursday, February 17, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm in room 656.
Professor Choi will also meet with students on Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 in the Performance Studies Studio, Room 636.
Jinhee Choi is Assistant Professor of Film Studies at Carleton University, Canada. She holds a PhD in Philosophy and a PhD in Film Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She has published numerous articles on the philosophy of film in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism and elsewhere, and she is co-editor with Noel Carroll of a forthcoming book on that subject. Her book manuscript Corporate Affluence, Cultural Exuberance: The New Korean Cinema is under consideration at Columbia University Press.
